Ulster Bank League: Division 2A Previews

Barring a real reverse in fortune Galwegians look set to claim the Division 2A title and promotion. They can still be caught by Ballymena who trail by 14 but with a game in hand.

Bruff (16^th) v UCC (6^th), Kilballyowen Park

Bruff will be playing in Division 2B next season but they can still take some lessons, albeit hard ones, from this season.

UCC are still in the running for the 2^nd promotion slot but it is a packed field ahead of them.

An away win is likely.

City of Derry (5^th) v Seapoint (12^th), Judge’s Road

City of Derry are just a point ahead of UCC in the queue and will be pushing hard for a win on Saturday to keep in the hunt.

Seapoint look to be safe with 24 points in the bag and will be keen to continue their rebuilding process for next season.

A home win.

Naas (14^th) v Highfield (13^th), Forenaughts

With three relegation slots (one by playoff) at the bottom of Division 2A these two sides are still in the danger zone.

Naas won their last game while Highfield lost to Rainey.

With relegation at stake there will be an edge with the away side slight favourites.

NUIM Barnhall (3^rd) v Queens (4^th), Parsonstown

Match of the day? This could go a long way towards deciding who finishes 2^nd behind ‘Wegians.

The winner is still in the hunt, the loser is probably done and dusted from a promotion point of view.

Tough one to call but the home side probably have a slight edge.

Old Crescent (15^th) v Cashel (11^th), Rosbrien

Old Crescent pushed Ballymena really close last game out and secured a losing bonus point. It wasn’t enough to take them out of the relegation zone so the fight continues.

Cashel won’t be satisfied with their return this season and five losing bonus points tells a tale of what might have been.

The home side need it more but the visitors won’t be gifting them anything. An away win.

Old Wesley (8^th) v Banbridge (9^th), Donnybrook

A mid table joust with little at stake for either side as neither are in the running for promotion or relegations.

Visitors Banbridge have five losing bonuse points to their name and like Cashel will rue what those close games may have cost them.

A home win.

Rainey OB (7^th) v Ballymena (2^nd), Hatrick Park

An Ulster derby! That should be enough to have the Ballymena faithful on edge.

These games don’t always follow form and Rainey would delight in the win if they get it.

Ballymena’s destiny is in their own hands now but a close run thing against Old Crescent may have put them on their guard.

Bective (10^th) v Galwegians (1^st), Donnybrook, Sunday

It’s that time of the season when the Donnybrook pitch is tested to the full, hence the Sunday kick off for this one.

Bective have had two good wins of late but it is hard to look past the visitors and a win should make them a cert to take top spot.
