Joyce Is League’s Rising Star For February

Clontarf’s top-scoring out-half David Joyce has been named as the Ulster Bank League Division 1A Rising Star of the Month for February.

David Joyce will now be shortlisted for the overall Ulster Bank Rising Star of the Year award at the Ulster Bank League Awards, taking place in April.

Joyce has had a superb season to date and in February, the out-half took his excellent form onto the international stage as he helped guide the Ireland Club International side to two historic victories over the Scotland Club XV and England Countries.

Scoring over 140 points in 12 games in the Ulster Bank League before last weekend, the Tullamore man has been ever-present for second-placed Clontarf, who are the top scorers in Division 1A and have a game in hand on leaders Old Belvedere.

This is the second Ulster Bank league Rising Star of the Month award for 2014, with Old Belvedere’s Leinster-capped back rower Jack Conan awarded the honour in January.

There will be two more awards presented to another two rising stars of the Ulster Bank League this season.

Now in its fourth year as Official Community Partner to the IRFU, Ulster Bank continues to show their dedication to grassroots rugby through their sponsorship of the Ulster Bank League, the introduction of the Ulster Bank League Awards and the return of their successful club initiative, ‘Ulster Bank RugbyForce‘.
