Ulster Bank League: Division 2A Previews

The action in Division 2A kicks off with a Friday Night Lights clash in Donnybrook. On Saturday there is the table top clash between NUIM Barnhall and Galwegains to savour.

Old Wesley (7^th) v Naas (14^th), Donnybrook, Friday Night Lights, 7.30

An interesting game under lights in Donnybrook as a Naas team in need of a win come calling.

Wesley are comfortable in mid-table thanks to their recent win against Cashel.

Naas are in a relegation playoff slot five points adrift of Highfield. They need the win more but the hosts have been in good form of late.

Bective Rangers (11^th) v Banbridge (8^th), Donnybrook

The turf in Donnybrook will be well tested this weekend. Neither side is really threatened by relegation but nor will they be chasing promotion.

Both sides claimed a win in their last outing and both are capable of some good running rugby so it could be an entertaining game.

The Bective clubhouse is also a great spot to watch the 6 Nations afterwards!

Bruff (16^th) v Queens (5^th), Kilballyowen Park

Bruff will be playing in Division 2B next season but the hard lessons of this run will stand to them.

Saturday is a tough one as Queens are still in with a promotion shout despite losing to UCC in their last game.

An away win on the cards.

City of Derry (6^th) v Cashel (9^th), Judge’s road

The home side are still in the hunt for a promotion slot but they may yet rue the loss to Highfield last month.

Cashel’s win over NUIM Barnhall showed they can mix it with the top teams in the division so they can’t be taken lightly.

A long trip for the Tipp side but can they make it worth their while?

NUIM Barnhall (2nd) v Galwegians (1st), Parsonstown

Match of the day in Division 2A. ‘Wegians can still be caught at the top albeit they are thirteen points ahead of their hosts.

The home side need the win or they risk dropping to third or even fourth.

All told this will be a huge game in deciding the title and promotion. Expect a big crowd and a cracking game in Leixlip.

Old Crescent (15^th) v Ballymena (3^rd), Rosbrien

Plenty at stake for both teams in this clash at Rosbrien on Saturday afternoon.

The hosts are in the relegation zone so every point matters.

The visitors will be aiming for a win and to take advantage of results elsewhere. Saturday could decide both their fates.

Rainey OB (10^th) v Highfield (13^th)

Both teams have pulled off some big wins recently. The home side beat Queens while the visitors put one over on City of Derry.

For all that they have both struggled for consistency – 6 and 6 for Rainey and 5 and 7 for Highfield.

Highfield are in the more nervy position as they are just 5 points clear of a relegation slot.

Seapoint (12^th) v UCC (4^th), Kilbogget Park

Another game with plenty at stake. The ‘Point’s win over Bruff helped them to 12^th place but they are by no means out of danger yet.

UCC could conceivably find themselves in 2^nd place if all the results went their way this weekend.
