IRFU Win HSE Community Games Social Media Award

The IRFU won the inaugural Social Media award at the annual HSE Community Games Media Awards in Westport on Saturday night.

The award was given in ackowledgement of the support that the IRFU gave to the Community Games through our website, Twitter and Facebook pages with interviews and news articles from Tommy Bowe and Sean O’Brien.

The experiences of both players in the Community Games generated significant interactions both on IrishRugby.ie and through our social media channels.

In addition to over 275,000 unique visitors to the website every month, Irish Rugby has over 206,000 followers on Twitter and recently reached 150,000 followers on Facebook, making it one of the biggest rugby brands online.

Speaking about the award, Padraig Power, IRFU Commercial & Marketing Director, said: “We are delighted to have won the Community Games Social Media award for 2013.

“We have seen huge growth on Twitter and Facebook in recent years and it is a great way to grow the rugby community online and for us to engage directly with our supporters and stakeholders.”
