Knee Injury Victim Murray Undergoes Scan

Munster scrum half Conor Murray had scan on his right knee having suffering suspected ligament damage during Sunday’s Heineken Cup round 3 win over Perpignan.

As Munster wait to find out the extent of Conor Murray’s injury, his half-back partner Ian Keatley is nursing a dead leg but is expected to be fit for the return game in France.

Meanwhile, fellow back Luke O’Dea fractured a bone in his right thumb during the Munster ‘A’ team’s loss in Plymouth on Friday night. O’Dea had surgery on Saturday and will be out for approximately eight weeks.

Aside from the Munster and Munster ‘A’ fixtures, there were also a number of the province’s players in club action over the weekend.

In the Ulster Bank League, Gerry Hurley and Niall Kenneally – who both came off the bench for Munster ‘A’ against Plymouth Albion – played for Cork Constitution as they beat St. Mary’s College 22-18 at Templeville Road.

Hurley scored Cork Con’s first try with Munster Academy prop Rory Burke also starting for the side.

Academy scrum half Brian Haugh scored five penalties and a conversion as Young Munster overcame UCD 22-16 at Tom Clifford Park.

Jack O’Donoghue was on the scoresheet for UL Bohemians again as they beat Buccaneers 31-16 at Annacotty. O’Donoghue scored his side’s first try with fellow Academy player David Johnston also featuring for Bohs, although he had to be withdrawn due to injury.

Academy winger Greg O’Shea started for Shannon too as they hung on to beat Malone 19-18 at Gibson Park.
