Three New Additions For Munster Academy

Munster Rugby have announced the signing of three promising young players, Rory Burke, Niall Kenneally and Alex Wootton, on Academy contracts.

Prop Rory Burke was educated at Christian Brothers College and plays his club rugby for Cork Constitution. Burke played for the Munster Under-19s last season and the Under-20s this year.

The prop also has international honours having represented Ireland at Under-19 level and he was called into the Irish national training camp in October.

Niall Kenneally, 21, has signed an Academy contract having trained with the Munster squad during pre-season, playing the final 20 minutes of the Seat Series win over Gloucester at Thomond Park.

Educated at Sligo Grammar School, the centre impressed for Munster ‘A’ in their first interprovincial game of the season, a 20-12 win over Connacht Eagles and made the move from UL Bohemians to Cork Constitution in the summer.

Originally from Stockport, winger Alex Wootton played for Ireland at the IRB Junior World Championship in the summer.

A product of Northampton Saints Academy, Wootton went to England’s Sedbergh School, once attended by former England captain Will Carling and Gloucester winger James Simpson-Daniel.

The winger has featured for the Munster Under-20s earlier this season and plays his club rugby with Garryowen.
