Murray Cleared To Play After Cardiff Hearing

Munster scrum half Conor Murray’s citing for an alleged incident of foul play during last Friday’s RaboDirect PRO12 match against Glasgow Warriors has been upheld.

Conor Murray appeared before an independent RaboDirect PRO12 Disciplinary Committee in Cardiff today having been cited by the independent citing commissioner.

The citing was for an alleged incident of foul play (striking an opponent, contrary to Law 10.4 (a)), arising from the RaboDirect PRO12 match between Glasgow Warriors and Munster at Scotstoun Stadium last Friday.

The Committee, chaired by Roger Morris (Wales) alongside Rhian Williams (Wales) and Marco Cordelli (Italy), upheld the citing in that an act of foul play had been committed but found that the act did not merit classification as a red card offence and imposed no sanction.

Their decision means that Murray is free to resume playing immediately, and will be available for Ireland’s GUINNESS Series games next month.

Law 10.4 (a): A player must not strike an opponent with the fist or arm, including the elbow, shoulder, head or knee(s).
