Coolmine ‘Fight Night’ With St. Brigids

Dublin 15 gets ready to rumble, as Coolmine RFC and St Brigid’s GAA are taking each other on in a unique fight night spectacular at St Brigid’s GAA club, Navan Road on Saturday, 19 October 2013.

This 1st encounter, of what is intended to be an annual fundraising and social event for these highly regarded voluntary sports clubs, promises to be the event of the year in the Dublin 15 calendar.

Participants and spectators alike are guaranteed a knockout action packed night of excitement and entertainment during the fight night when local heroes from both clubs take to the ring.

The boxers have commenced a six-week training period with the highly experienced “White Collar Boxing” trainers at the National Stadium in advance of their courageous decision to step into the ring to battle it out over 3 rounds of boxing.

Both clubs are seeking financial support for the event and are approaching local businesses and people from all walks of life to give their support and raise money with the end goal of improving the sporting facilities for both clubs to the benefit of all young sportsmen and women in the Dublin 15 area.

Billy Quane, chairman of St Brigid’s and Michael Fetherston, President of Coolmine in a joint statement said; “we are close neighbors with many of our members playing for both clubs, albeit in different codes.

It is in the interest of all our young sportspeople have the best facilities possible, allowing them to participate in the fullest way to achieve their sporting goals. We have already got a very positive support from the members of both clubs and we are looking forward to the training sessions and the big fight night October 19”.

The boxing event will consist of 15 bouts with each boxer paired with an opponent of equal strength and agility. 

Famous names from the Irish amateur and professional boxing will also be in attendance on this professionally presented event. Spectators, who purchase tickets at €;20, will not only enjoy a night of nail-biting action and good humored club rivalry will also be supporting the ongoing development of sporting activities in Dublin 15.
