IRFU Performance Nutritionist

The Irish Rugby Football Union is seeking applications from persons qualified in the area of sports and performance nutrition.

This exciting new part-time position of Performance Nutritionist will support current nutrition services as well as develop nutrition education pathways for young players who are part of the IRFU Elite Player Development Programme.

Reporting to and working alongside the National Performance Nutritionist, the candidate will:

• Develop nutrition education services and resources to young rugby players who are part of the IRFU Elite Player Development Programme.
• Contribute to Coach Education.
• Assist the National Performance Nutritionist in the administration of the delivery of nutrition services.

The successful candidate will have:

• A qualification at degree level in a relevant subject plus a recognised post-graduate qualification in Nutrition or a degree in Nutrition and/or Dietetics.
• Evidence of developing practical nutrition education programmes for young people.
• Experience of developing and implementing evidence-based innovative ideas and putting them into practice, including working in an applied and integrated multi-disciplinary manner.
• Experience in or evidence of understanding the provision of nutritional support to athletes and coaches to support performance, which should include the planning, implementation and monitoring of specific nutrition programmes.
• Experience in or evidence of understanding the ability to modify nutritional programmes according to assessment data, in conjunction with Fitness, Medical and other support staff.

This position is being offered on a 2 year fixed-term, part-time basis (0.6 FTE) and is based in Dublin.
