Malone Takes Charge Of Munster ‘A’

Munster’s Elite Player Development Manager Peter Malone will assume the role of head coach for the province’s ‘A’ squad for this season.

Peter Malone will be joined by Elite Development Officers Colm McMahon and Greig Oliver on the coaching panel and outgoing Munster ‘A’ head coach Ian Costello will act as the senior team co-ordinator in continuing the close ties between the senior and ‘A’ squad.

Former Munster Under-20 team manager Alan Miller takes over the role of match-day team manager.

The Munster ‘A’ squad open their 2013/14 campaign when they take on Connacht Eagles in their first interprovincial game at Musgrave Park next Wednesday (kick-off 5pm), and they commence their British & Irish Cup challenge in October with the fixtures listed here.

The Munster ‘A’ squad has provided the ideal outlet to promote and further develop Munster’s up-and-coming talent with Ronan O’Mahony a clear example of this.

Having completed three years in the Munster Academy, O’Mahony was rewarded with a senior contract for this season off the back of impressive Munster ‘A’ performances.

He has made 18 appearances at British & Irish Cup level, scoring four tries and his form continued last week against London Irish when scoring a hat-trick at Musgrave Park.

All support is welcome at Musgrave Park next Wednesday with the latest offerings of Munster’s young talent on show.

MUNSTER ‘A’ MANAGEMENT TEAM (2013/14):

Head Coach: Peter Malone
Assistant Coach: Colm McMahon
Assistant Coach: Greig Oliver
Strength & Conditioning Coach: PJ Wilson
Physios: Colm Coakley and Damien Mordan
