IRFU Appoint Communications & Media Officer

The Irish Rugby Football Union today announced the appointment of David O Síocháin as Communications & Media Officer.

David O Síocháin will join the IRFU on October 1 from Pembroke Communications’ Sports and Sponsorship Division where he worked with Paralympics Ireland, Athletics Ireland, the Institute of Sport, Triathlon Ireland and the Ladies Gaelic Football Association, amongst others.

A keen rugby player and coach, David has played top grade club rugby in Ireland and New Zealand, coached Schools rugby, Women’s rugby, Under-21s and senior rugby in Division 1A of the Ulster Bank League.

IRFU Communications Director Stephen McNamara said: “Almost 200 people applied to work alongside Joe Schmidt as he builds his national squad. This is an exciting and demanding role and we are delighted to welcome David to our communications team.

“We believe his experience, confidence and drive make him perfectly suited to fulfil this critically important role for Irish rugby.”
