The Barbarians, who played the British & Irish Lions in Hong Kong last weekend, are one of the oldest and most famous rugby sides in the world.

Some of the game’s most talented and exciting players have worn the iconic black and white jersey and the side is known for its exciting and open style of rugby.

Clontarf Chairman Brian Goff welcomed the news by saying: “It is a fantastic honour for Clontarf to host a side such as the Barbarians in what we hope will be a fantastic occasion for the club, the community, and Dublin itself.

“The Barbarians are known throughout the world and have a rich history both on and off the field. We are looking forward to welcoming them to Castle Avenue next year.”

It will be the first time in Clontarf’s history to play against the Barbarians and there will be more announcements in the coming months.
