Stringer To Stay On With Bath

Bath Rugby have confirmed that Peter Stringer has signed a new contract extension to keep him at the English Premiership club next season.

Peter Stringer, capped 232 times for Munster and with 98 Ireland caps to his credit, was originally brought in by Bath as injury cover for Michael Claassens, but has since gone on to make the starting number 9 shirt his own.

Speaking of his decision to continue playing at the Recreation Ground, Stringer said: “I still feel like I have a lot to give on the rugby field, and really wanted to keep on playing so I was happy to agree a new contract here.

“I’ve really enjoyed my time with Bath so far, and am looking forward to next season already.”

Bath head coach Gary Gold added: “Strings has been fantastic for us in the short time he has been here so far, so we’re really pleased he has agreed to stay here for next season rather than going back to Ireland.

“He is the consummate professional in everything he does, both on and off the field, and that sets a great example for the entire squad.”
