Fraser McMullen Cup Draw Is Made

UCD will begin their defence of the Fraser McMullen Cup against Cork opposition on Saturday week, following confirmation of the draw for the opening matches in this season’s All-Ireland Under-21 Cup competition.

Highfield or UCC have been paired with defending champions UCD in the first round of the Fraser McMullen Cup. The Belfield side’s opponents will be confirmed following a play-off this coming Saturday.

Garryowen or UL Bohemians will emerge as Lansdowne’s opponents for the Under-21 competition’s opening round which will take place on Saturday, March 23.

The four Leinster-Munster affairs are completed by the Cork Constitution v Dublin University clash and Old Belvedere’s trip to Young Munster.

The matches will kick off at 2.30pm and extra-time of 10 minutes each way will be played if necessary.

The semi-finals will be held on Saturday, March 30 with the final scheduled for the weekend of April 6-7, with its venue to be confirmed.

The UCD Under-21s have won the last two Fraser McMcMullen Cup deciders, edging out Lansdowne 28-27 in April 2011 and claiming a 17-11 win over Old Belvedere last year.
