Student Sides Prepare For Colours Clash

The 61st annual Colours match between UCD RFC and Dublin University FC takes place under the Belfield Bowl floodlights at 7.30pm this Friday night.

In addition to this being the annual battle for bragging rights between the two university rugby clubs, there will also be Ulster Bank League points up for grabs.

Both clubs are in Division 1B of the league with Trinity having taken the spoils 36-14 in the first fixture at College Park in November.

An interesting feature of Friday’s fixture will be that this will be the first time that the Colours match has been played outside of Lansdowne Road or Donnybrook Stadium and therefore can be seen as historic in its own right.

Risteard Byrne (UCD) and Michael McLoughlin (Trinity College) will captain their respective sides in the hope of claiming victory, the Colours trophy and the important Ulster Bank League points.

Admission €;10 or €;5 with student ID.
