Leinster Train Ahead Of Treviso Test

The Leinster squad trained at UCD this afternoon as they started their on-field preparations for their next RaboDirect PRO12 assignment at home to Benetton Treviso.

There are no major fresh injury concerns for Leinster arising from last Friday night’s 26-11 victory over the Cardiff Blues.

That game saw centre Eoin O’Malley, who was a late addition to the matchday squad in place of the injured Fionn Carr, make his 50th appearance for the province when he appeared as a second half replacement.

Springbok prop Heinke van der Merwe was another late withdrawal after being rested to recover fully from a knock to the leg.

But the management are confident that both Carr and van der Merwe will be available ahead of Friday’s team announcement.

Isa Nacewa missed the league win in Cardiff with a recurrence of an arm injury sustained in January and is unlikely to be involved this weekend.

Ian Madigan, who completed a 100% successful kicking tally of 16 points against the Blues, is in line to make his 21st appearance of the season – and his 70th in Leinster colours – if he features on Saturday evening.

Meanwhile, Ireland international Rhys Ruddock is one cap away from reaching the milestone of 50 Leinster appearances.

The management expect the return of a number of players who have had limited game-time after their involvement with the Ireland Six Nations squad in recent weeks.

Saturday’s match against Benetton Treviso marks the province’s annual ‘Ladies Night’ which is a specially themed night. All female supporters at this game will be treated with goodies such as flowers, cupcakes and more, while also having the chance to win some great prizes.

Come along and enjoy the live music around the grounds and keep an eye out for our goodie bag locations to pick up yours with some great treats inside.

Cupid will also be roaming the grounds this Valentine’s weekend looking to escort some lucky ladies to their seats.

While enjoying the match, the fabulous Blue Crew will be surprising some ladies in the crowd with spot prizes so keep watch!

There are close to 15,500 tickets sold for the Leinster-Treviso clash. Tickets are on sale online here and are also available from the Leinster Rugby Store (Donnybrook), Spar (Donnybrook) and Ticketmaster outlets nationwide.
