Healy Cited For Alleged Stamp

Ireland prop Cian Healy has been cited by the independent citing commissioner Alberto Recaldini (Italy) for stamping on an opponent during yesterday’s RBS 6 Nations match between Ireland and England at the Aviva Stadium.

The alleged act of foul play is contrary to law 10.4 (b). Cian Healy’s hearing, before an independent Six Nations disciplinary committee appointed by Professor Lorne Crerar, chairman of the Six Nations disciplinary panel, will be held in London this Wednesday.

Also to appear before a Six Nations disciplinary committee on Wednesday will be England Under-20 flanker Ross Moriarty.

He was red carded for a dangerous tackle under law 10.4(j) in the Under-20 Six Nations match between Ireland and England in Athlone on Friday night.

Law 10.4 (b) states, ‘A player must not stamp or trample on an opponent’.

Law 10.4 (j) states, ‘Lifting a player from the ground and dropping or driving that player into the ground whilst that player’s feet are still of the ground such that the player’s head and/or upper body come into contact with the ground is dangerous play’.
