O’Malley Set To Return For Leinster

The Leinster squad trained at UCD today ahead of the resumption of the RaboDirect PRO12 on Friday when Joe Schmidt’s men travel to face the Cardiff Blues at the Arms Park.

Though Leinster will be without a number of players who are away on international duty this weekend, the province’s management will be able to call upon the services of David Kearney, Eoin O’Malley and Dominic Ryan who are all fully fit and available for selection.

O’Malley’s next appearance is set to be his 50th for the province. The 24-year-old centre has not played senior rugby for Leinster since last May when he sustained a cruciate knee ligament injury against Glasgow Warriors.

Selection over the next few weeks is likely to be mixed between youth and experience. The likes of Leo Cullen, Shane Jennings, Isaac Boss, Isa Nacewa and Heinke van der Merwe are set to feature alongside a number of Academy players.

The players who have shown good form in the Leinster ‘A’ team’s qualification for the British & Irish Cup quarter-finals in April could also come into the mix.

It is also hoped that some of the players helping with the preparations of the Ireland squad could be available for selection. The team and replacement for the Cardiff clash will be named on Thursday at midday.

Meanwhile, ticket sales for ‘Ladies Night’ at the RDS on Saturday week, February 16, against Benetton Treviso have passed the 15,200 mark.

Leinster v Benetton Treviso match tickets are on sale now online here as well as from the Leinster Rugby Store (Donnybrook), Spar (Donnybrook) and Ticketmaster outlets nationwide.
