Cork Con To Host Club International

The Ireland Club XV will face the England Counties in the Ulster Bank Club International on Friday, February 8 at Temple Hill, with the magnificent new Cork Con clubhouse as the backdrop for what promises to be a great game.

The new facility was finished at the end of the summer and opened its doors just in time for the 2012/13 season.

The club embarked on this project to upgrade the facilities in the club for future generation of Cork Constitution FC members aligned to their community engagement and family attraction policies.

The clubhouse will cater for the needs of the players, members, spectators and guests in many different ways and the structure and layout is to facilitate the extended reach Cork Con have into the community with more than just rugby.

The clubhouse itself is a state of the art fit for purpose facility with two bars and a large hall, with an extended kitchen that will cater for many social occasions in the future.

Although built by an external developer, the project management and logistical elements were all executed by club members adding their own specialist skills to the project.

In addition 125 members contributed 1000 euro to the development fund and there are still members coming forward to contribute to ensure the club can fund this facility in the most cost effective way.

The development will also transform the dressing rooms into more spacious changing facilities for our underage, juvenile, male and female (Tag) players and will also include an up to date weights room as part of the project.

It is envisaged the new buildings will greatly enhance the historic Temple Hill grounds and that our hugely improved facilities and grounds will ensure that we can provide for the needs of both present and future members.

To mark the opening season of the new facility, Cork Constitution FC will host the annual Ulster Bank Club International between the Ireland Club XV and England Counties.

The Ireland Club XV beat their Scottish counterparts last season to capture the Dalriada Cup, but they lost to the Counties side 34-16 at Preston Grasshoppers RFC in March.
