ERC Confirms O’Gara Citing

ERC, the Heineken Cup organisers, have received a citing complaint against Munster out-half Ronan O’Gara following yesterday’s round 5 match between the provinces and Edinburgh at Murrayfield.

Ronan O’Gara is alleged to have kicked Edinburgh second row Sean Cox during the second half of the game which Munster won 26-17.

The complaint was made by citing commissioner Alberto Recaldini from Italy.

HHJ Jeff Blackett (England) has been appointed as the independent judicial officer for the hearing which will take place in Dublin this Thursday.

Law 10.4(c) Kicking an opponent. A player must not kick an opponent.

Under the IRB sanctions for foul play, law 10.4 (c) carries the following sanction entry points – low end: 4 weeks; mid range: 8 weeks; top end: 12+ to 52 weeks.
