SAFE Rugby Course Comes To Ravenhill

Following on from the successful inaugural courses at the Aviva Stadium in September, the IRFU and Ulster Rugby will host a SAFE-Rugby Level 2 course at Ravenhill on Sunday, January 13, 2013.

This one-day rugby specific emergency pitchside care course is aimed at medical personnel involved with club and school teams, including sports medicine physicians, doctors, physiotherapists, athletic trainers and nurses.

Topics include BLS, AED, concussion, head and spinal management, chest injuries, fracture management, player immobilisation and removal.

The content will take the form of presentations with the majority of the course delivered as scenario based learning in small groups.

The cost of the course is €;150 and can be booked online or by emailing Niamh Nash.

The IRFU will also be launching Level 1 SAFE-Rugby courses in early 2013 which is a rugby specific first aid course for non-medical personnel involved with clubs and schools, e.g. coaches, referees, parents, officials and players.

If you are interested in attending a Level 1 course please register your interest via email to Niamh Nash. Registration for the courses will begin in 2013.
