Tullamore Kick Off Junior Cup Defence WIth A Bang

The Ulster Bank All-Ireland Junior Cup kicked off over the weekend and cup holders Tullamore launched their bid for a third title with a big win over Ballymoney.

The champions from County Offaly ran out comfortable winners on a scoreline of 52-15.

Last season’s beaten finalists, Monivea, travelled to Crosshaven, the only Munster club to have won the cup, in a repeat of the 2011 final but this time the western club came out on top 25-16.

Elsewhere Newbridge defeated RIchmond and Skibbereen lost at home to Enniscorthy, which means that Kanturk will be flying the Munster flag in the next round after their 35-7 win over Westport.

Clogher Valley, who made the Ulster Bank League play-offs last season, put an end to the cup hopes of a fancied Coolmine in an exciting 39-37 victory at the Cran.

Donaghadee progressed to the next round with a win in Ballina, while Cooke knocked out OLBC.

The draw for the quarter-finals will take place on Wednesday, November 7, while the last-eight games will be scheduled for Saturday, December 15. The semi-finals are set for January 26 and the final is down for decision on February 9.
