Books Of Condolence Opened For Spence Family

The Irish Rugby Football Union has opened a book of condolence at the IRFU offices – 10/12 Lansdowne Road, Dublin 4 – for the Spence family following the tragic deaths of young Ulster and Ireland Wolfhounds centre Nevin Spence, his father Noel and brother Graham.

Please feel free to call into the IRFU offices near the Aviva Stadium to sign the book and offer your message of sympathy to the Spence family and all those affected by Saturday’s tragic accident in Hillsborough, County Down.

The IRFU book of condolence is open from 9am to 5pm this week. All online condolences will also be collated, via the IRFU Twitter and Facebook pages, and passed on.

This follows on from the opening of a book of condolence by Ulster Rugby at Ravenhill, the province’s home ground in Belfast.

The Ulster Rugby book of condolence was opened this morning at 10am at Ravenhill. Both the offices and the ground itself with be open from 9am to 5pm every day this week for those wishing to leave expressions of sympathy.

Nevin’s own club, Ballynahinch RFC, have also issued a statement regarding tributes to the player and his family.

“In light of the tragic events that have befallen the Spence family, Ballynahinch will be opening a book of condolence,” the statement confirmed.

“The book of condolence will be available for signing in the ‘Hinch clubhous at Ballymacarn Park, which will be open every night this week from 6pm to 9pm and on Saturday between 9am and 2pm.

“As a mark of respect to the Spence family, all training and matches involving Ballynahinch teams this week have been cancelled.

“Anyone wishing to leave flowers or other tokens in memorium at the club for the Spence family are welcome to do so.”
