Boss And Ryan Doubtful For Leinster

The Leinster squad trained at UCD today ahead of their first home game of the RaboDirect PRO12 campaign next Saturday as the Newport Gwent Dragons visit the RDS (kick-off 6.15pm).

There are several further injury concerns for the Leinster management arising from the round 1 defeat away to the Scarlets, with Isaac Boss and Dominic Ryan in doubt for the visit of the Newport-based side next weekend.

Ireland scrum half Boss sat out training this afternoon after hyper-extending his elbow during the first half in Llanelli and he will continue to be monitored by the medical team ahead of Friday’s team announcement.

Young flanker Ryan, meanwhile, rolled over his right ankle and underwent a scan this morning with the results not yet available.

Hookers Richardt Strauss (stinger) and Aaron Dundon (cut above his left eye which required stitches) and winger Fionn Carr (nose) also suffered knocks, but head coach Joe Schmidt remain hopeful that all three will be available.

Leo Cullen and Quinn Roux are set to be added to the panel from the Scarlets match. The game in Llanelli saw another lock, Tom Denton, make his senior bow for the province.

Ian Madigan also became the latest Leinster player to pass the 50-cap mark. It is anticipated that the Ireland international contingent will be available for selection over rounds 3 and 4 of the RaboDirect PRO12.

Ticket sales for Saturday’s game against the Dragons have passed the 13,400 mark and are on sale from www.leinsterrugby.ie, the Leinster Rugby Store (Donnybrook) and Spar (Donnybrook) as well as Ticketmaster outlets nationwide.

Meanwhile, ticket sales for Leinster’s derby clash with Munster at the Aviva Stadium on Saturday, October 6 have now passed the 22,000 mark. Tickets for this and all Leinster games are also on sale from the province’s website.
