New Players Settling In At Munster

Week two of Munster’s pre-season regime continued at the University of Limerick on Wednesday and included the likes of newcomers James Downey, Sean Dougall and Casey Laulala.

Also making a welcome return to field training was former All Black winger Doug Howlett who missed most of last season after sustaining an Achilles injury.

MUNSTER 2012/13 SQUAD –

Players In:

Sean Dougall (flanker from Rotherham Titans), James Downey (centre from Northampton Saints), Casey Laulala (centre from Cardiff Blues) and CJ Stander (flanker from the Bulls (South Africa)).

Christy Condon (prop from Dolphin) and Barry O’Mahony (flanker from Clontarf) are both on first-time contracts

Alan Cotter (prop), JJ Hanrahan (centre/out-half), Luke O’Dea (full-back/winger), Dave O’Callaghan (back rower) and Cathal Sheridan (scrum half) have all been promoted from the Munster Academy to Development contracts.

Players Out:

Lifeimi Mafi (Perpignan), Tomas O’Leary (London Irish), Denis Fogarty (Aurillac), Mick O’Driscoll (retired), David Wallace (retired), Denis Leamy (retired), Jerry Flannery (retired), John Hayes (retired), Darragh Hurley (retired), Tom Gleeson (released), Declan Cusack (released) and Peter Borlase (released).

Will Chambers (Melbourne Storm) and Save Tokula were both included in the squad last season on short-term contracts and returned home when those contracts expired.
