Four Exiles In Ireland Action

Four players who came through the Exiles are on Irish rugby duty in South Africa and New Zealand at the moment.

First of all, congratulations are due to Declan Fitzpatrick who made his Ireland senior debut at tighthead prop against New Zealand last Saturday.

Secondly, lock Dan Tuohy made his first start for Ireland, having previously been a try-scoring replacement against the All Blacks in June 2010.

They are joined in the tour party to New Zealand by lock/blindside flanker and Ireland international Mike McCarthy. Mike is currently plying his trade with Connacht, and Declan and Dan are with Ulster.

We wish all three of them very well indeed for the rest of the summer tour, in what is the most daunting of visits any northern Hemisphere team can make.

Meanwhile in South Africa, scrum half Kieran Marmion continued to start for Ireland in the IRB Junior World Championship.

After success against the hosts it was back down to earth against England, although it was a close-run match. Kieran can take consolation in scoring a try against England and we wish him well for the remainder of the tournament.
