The Ireland Under-20s, sponsored by PwC, kickstarted their IRB Junior World Championship campaign with a memorable 23-19 victory over hosts South Africa on Tuesday. It was Ireland’s first ever win over the Junior Springboks.

Man-of-the-match JJ Hanrahan kicked 13 points with forwards Jordan Coghlan and Iain Henderson scoring a try in each half.
The tournament website also selected the Irish victory as ‘the performance of round 1’, with the video highlights package including an interview with Hanrahan who praised the ‘work-rate’ of the squad, in particular the back rowers. Click here to watch the second video.
