Representative Game Coaches Technical Conference

Following the success of the recent IRFU Technical Conference, a further weekend seminar aimed specifically at coaches involved with representative teams took place last weekend.

Attendees included coaches of Ireland U-18 club and U-18 Schools, U-19s and U-20s, Elite Player Development staff and National Development Managers including High Performance and Coach Development staff.

The conference was opend by Eddie Wigglesworth, IRFU Director of Rugby, and there were keynote addresses from Ireland Assistant Coach Les Kiss, High Performance Manager Allen Clarke and IRFU Technical Director Steve Aboud.

Squad based workshops were undertaken by Wayne Mitchell (U-18 Clubs), Noel McNamara (U-18 Schools), Colin McEntee (U-19s) and Mike Ruddock (U-20s).

Ireland Assistant Coach Gert Smal, who has been given the all clear for the Summer Tour to New Zealand, was also on hand to share his expertise.

This conference and the previous serve to reinforce the alignment and aspects of the IRFU Technical Model. They also cement relationships and closer links between Representative Age Grade coaches and the Elite Player pathways.
