Ballinasloe Win First Aid Training

Ballinasloe RFC were recently presented with first aid training for six club members and an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).

Ballinasloe RFC completed the recent IRFU Club Medical Survey and were entered into a draw to win the prize that was kindly sponsored by Hibernian Healthcare.

A presentation was made at half-time in the recent Ireland v Italy RBS 6 Nations game by Hibernian Healthcare Managing Director Alan Moran to the President of Ballinasloe RFC, Geraldine Kelly, accompanied by Scott Walker (IRFU) and Dr. Conor McCarthy (IRFU).

The results of the survey are currently being analysed and will be used in the development of a new first aid programme by the IRFU Medical Department called SAFE-Rugby.

In other news, the IRFU Sports Medicine Conference, themed ‘Injury Prevention in Rugby Union’, and associated satellite events will take place from May 17-19.
