Talented back rower George Naoupu has been announced as the winner of the Connacht Player of the Month award for the month of February.
The province’s exclusive award is presented in association with Hartmanns Jewellers and Tag Heuer watches and is presented to players who have displayed exceptional leadership and ability both on and off the field over the course of the month.
Speaking about the award, Connacht team manager Tim Allnutt said: “George (Naoupu) is a natural leader on the pitch, he’s a phenomenal ball carrier and provides a great platform for the rest of the team to work off.
“His offloading skills are exceptional and his raw strength and power mean he makes it over the gain-line time and time again.”
He added: “During February we were narrowly beaten in Cardiff before drawing with Glasgow and then beating Edinburgh and in all three matches George’s work-rate and performance were exemplary, so he is a very deserving recipient of this award.”
Connacht’s next home game is a mouth-watering interprovincial clash with reigning league champions Munster this Saturday. Kick-off at the Sportsground is at 7.45pm and tickets are available from www.ticketmaster.ie.
