Clogher Valley Join Race To Qualify For Ulster Bank League

Clogher Valley have been crowned Kukri Ulster Qualifying League 1 champions following a brilliant 18-match campaign which saw them earn 17 wins and a draw. Last weekend’s emphatic 59-5 victory away to Limavady sealed the title for them despite pressure from Cooke, who finished just three points behind them in the table.

Tyrone club Clogher Valley will now go on to join Monivea, Skerries and Richmond in the Round Robin series of matches which makes up the All-Ireland Provincial League Championship, with the quartet battling it out for a place in next season’s Ulster Bank League.

2011/12 ALL-IRELAND PROVINCIAL LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP FIXTURES:

Saturday, March 24 –

Skerries v Clogher Valley; Monivea v Richmond

Saturday, March 31 –

Play-off between second team in Championship and second-from-bottom side in Division 2B

Monivea (Connacht), Skerries (Leinster), Richmond (Munster) and Clogher Valley (Ulster) have made it through to the Round Robin series as a result of winning their respective provincial Junior League titles.

In the All-Ireland Provincial League Championship, the points scoring system will be the same as it is in the Ulster Bank League. The table toppers after the three rounds of games will be promoted directly to Division 2B for next season.

The second-placed team in the Championship will play off against the team that finishes second-from-bottom in Division 2B. Currently Ards are in that position in the table, with Sunday’s Well and Sligo just above them.

The Division 2B club that finishes second-from-bottom will have home advantage for the play-off match on Saturday, April 21.
