Cave Ruled Out For Up To Six Weeks

Ulster’s in-form centre Darren Cave has sustained a ligament injury in his foot and has been ruled out of action for up to six weeks.

Darren Cave picked up the injury in last Friday’s 41-7 Heineken Cup pool win over Leicester Tigers and an MRI scan on Monday revealed the extent of the damage.

Cave missed large parts of last season with a hamstring injury and it is a huge disappointment for the 24-year-old who has been one of Ulster’s standout performers in recent months.

Ulster have a three-point lead at the top of Pool 4 heading into round 6 of the Heineken Cup. They face a daunting trip to chief rivals Clermont Auvergne on Saturday afternoon.

The clash will be Ulster’s 100th game in the Heineken Cup and they head to France knowing they require at least a draw (or a losing bonus point whilst denying Clermont Auvergne a try-scoring bonus point) to finish as pool winners.
