Earls To Undergo Knee Scan

Munster winger Keith Earls will have a scan on his left knee on Monday to determine the exact extent of the injury he sustained in the opening minutes of last Friday’s RaboDirect PRO12 defeat to Leinster.

Keith Earls looks to have suffered ligament damage that will certainly rule him out of Munster’s opening two Heineken Cup matches against Northampton Saints and Castres Olympique, but as yet a timeframe for a return has not been established.

Other than that, Munster report a clean bill of health from what was a bruising encounter with the reigning European champions.

They will hold a squad session in Limerick on Tuesday. It is expected that Tony McGahan will announce an extended squad later on Tuesday evening, though that process is slightly complicated because the province also have a British & Irish Cup game against Cornish Pirates in Clonmel RFC on Friday.
