Youth And Experience In Munster ‘A’ Line-Up

Australian Will Chambers, who arrived in Munster a week ago, will make his first start for Munster in the province’s ‘A’ match against Connacht in Galway on Friday (kick-off 2pm).

Will Chambers, the 23-year-old former Queensland Red, lines up alongside Tom Gleeson in the centre with Academy player Luke O’Dea on the right wing.

Munster ‘A’ will field a formidable front row trio of Marcus Horan, Damien Varley and BJ Botha, with young tyros Dave Foley and Ian Nagle behind them.

Cork Constitution lock Philip Donnellan is listed among the replacements alongside Academy players Dave Kilcoyne, Brian O’Hara and JJ Hanrahan.

Meanwhile, Munster hooker Mike Sherry’s first game, since returning from New Zealand, ended badly when he sprained his ankle playing for Garryowen in the Ulster Bank League last weekend.

The injury to his left leg will rule him out for the immediate future. He is expected to undergo further examination later this week to determine the full extent of the injury.

MUNSTER ‘A’ (v Connacht ‘A’): Sean Scanlon; Luke O’Dea, Will Chambers, Tom Gleeson, Simon Zebo; Scott Deasy, Tomas O’Leary; Marcus Horan, Damien Varley, BJ Botha, Ian Nagle, Dave Foley, Dave O’Callaghan, Tommy O’Donnell, James Coughlan (capt).

Replacements: Dave Kilcoyne, Denis Fogarty, John Ryan, Philip Donnellan, Brian O’Hara, Duncan Williams, Declan Cusack, JJ Hanrahan.
