Sherry Called Out To New Zealand As Precaution

It has been announced that Munster hooker Michael Sherry will travel to New Zealand to join up with the Ireland squad, as precautionary cover for the injured Rory Best.

Rory Best, who has a sprain on the AC joint in the right shoulder, is continuing his rehabilitation and still remains an official member of the Ireland Rugby World Cup squad.

Ireland team manager Paul McNaughton said: “Rory Best is still progressing with his rehabilitation this week and while he is still rated doubtful for the Wales game, we felt it was prudent to bring Mike Sherry down to New Zealand as precautionary cover. We expect Mike to arrive in New Zealand on Thursday.”

So far this season the uncapped Sherry, 23, has played in four of Munster’s opening five RaboDirect PRO12 matches. He made his Heineken Cup debut against Toulon last January.
