In Pics: Ireland Arrive In Auckland

Monday was a travel day for the Ireland squad and management as they moved base from New Plymouth to Auckland, ahead of next Saturday’s Pool C showdown with Australia. Check out our latest photo gallery.

The players and coaching staff received a very warm welcome from the Ireland supporters who greeted them in the arrivals hall at Auckland Airport.

Ireland were based in Auckland for last year’s summer tour and trained at Mt Smart Stadium, where they will have their squad sessions this week.

Full-back Geordan Murphy said: “It’s only a six-day turnaround. Training will be important this week, we’ve got to do a good bit of homework.

“We know the quality that Australia have and the style of play they have, so it’s going to be a huge game for us.”

The Ireland team and replacements to play the Wallabies will be announced on Wednesday at 1.15pm New Zealand time/2.15am Irish time.
