Navan And Boyne To Contest Inaugural ‘Brú Na Bóinne’ Challenge

Two clubs, one river, one winner. Ulster Bank League rivals Navan and Boyne will contest the inaugural ‘Brú na Bóinne’ challenge this coming Saturday at Navan’s Balreask Old grounds.

Saturday, September 10 is the date for the inaugural Navan/Boyne inter-club Rugby Day. This will be an exciting annual event, commencing 2011, which will alternate between Navan and Boyne venues. Navan are the first hosts.

The ‘Brú na Bóinne’ (Battle of the Boyne) challenge involves all representative teams from Navan and Boyne, from minis through to veterans, playing each other on the day in a blitz style event.

Points are awarded for a win or draw in each match. The finale will see the clubs’ two senior teams playing at 4.30pm with a trophy awarded after the final match.

It is a game that will have added spice as Boyne have been promoted to the Ulster Bank League and the two sides will meet again in Division 2B at the end of October.

A specially commisioned ‘Sword’ will be the trophy for the event.

There will be an entertainment zone for kids on the day, food and lots of fun for all age groups. Entry is free. All are welcome to come down to Navan RFC for the day!

When: Saturday, September 10
Where: Navan RFC, Balreask Old, Navan
Time: 10.30am-6pm
Who: Every club member from Under-7 to Senior XV…and the oldies too will battle it out for the trophy!
