‘Salmo Calling! New Players Required

Have you not played rugby in a few years? Are you moving to Dublin and looking for a club to join? Do you want to change from your current club? Pr perhaps you have never played rugby before and would like to give it a try?

And do you live in Sandyford, Leopardstown, Dundrum, Ballinteer, Carrickmines, Stepaside, Churchtown or the general area?

If the answer is YES to any of the above then come along this Saturday (July 23) at 2.30pm to the grounds of De La Salle Palmerston at Kirwan Park in Kilternan, to the club’s first ever Open Day for junior adult players.

DLSP is a very open club, with a strong focus on playing the game of rugby and feeling part of a club that is renowned for being hospitable and welcoming to new members.

A recent investment programme, which was in excess of €;500,000, has seen numerous developments to the facilities at the impressive 16-acre site.

In particular, the recent addition of two certified match standard floodlit pitches and a viewing balcony will benefit the club’s players and teams.

Last season DLSP fielded adult teams at 1st XV (Ulster Bank League Division 2), J1, J3, J4, J5, Under-21, U-19 and Vets (Over-35) levels.

For the 2011/12 season, they will field at all the above mentioned levels and also enter a team at J2 level, meaning there will be nine adult teams representing the club.

To help cater for these increased playing numbers, ‘Salmo are very keen to recruit additional players and anyone who may be interested in coaching or helping out, in any voluntary capacity, is also very welcome.

The schedule for the Open Day on Saturday is as follows:

2.30pm – Registration

3pm – Workshops on strength and conditioning, and nutrition

3.45pm – Pitch work

4.45pm – Free BBQ and a complimentary drink for everyone who attends

For more information on the club (including directions, bus routes, etc) please click here to visit the DLSP website or visit their Facebook page. You can also follow the club on their Twitter page.
