Aviva Stadium Wins ‘New Venue Award’.

The Aviva Stadium has won the ‘Best New Venue’ award in this year’s International Stadium Business Awards, the winners of which were announced this week.

These are the only awards to recognise a spectrum of achievements across the global stadium industry. The awards were presented at a ceremony in FC Barcelona’s Camp Nou stadium in Spain, in front of an audience of more than 220 senior sports industry professionals from around the globe.

Hundreds of nominations from around the world were narrowed down to a shortlist, judged by an independent panel of industry experts, from around the world.

The judges citation for the award to the Aviva Stadium read: “For on-time, under budget delivery of a high-quality stadium on a compact urban footprint with minimum disruption… combining football and rugby to sustain the business model… now embraced by the local community as a fantastic city and national asset.”

Commenting on the award, Aviva Stadium Director Martin Murphy noted that in the stadium’s first year of operation they had hosted some 26 pitch-related events and over 5,000 different events across conferences, launches, seminars and other corporate events in the stadium.

Now in their second year, the International Stadium Business Awards were created as a platform to showcase innovation, professionalism and best practice within the stadium industry.
