Melrose Moves On From Connacht

Connacht Rugby have confirmed that their backs coach Brian ‘Billy’ Melrose’s contract will not be renewed for next season.

Brian Melrose joined Connacht from Eastwood RFC in Sydney at the start of last season. His departure comes as head coach Eric Elwood puts the final touches to the province’s set-up for next season.

Elwood’s men have the added bonus of competing in the Heineken Cup for the first time in Connacht’s history, following Leinster’s recent final win over Northampton Saints.

Details of Connacht’s pre-season friendlies are due to be announced shortly and are likely to take place during the month of August.

Melrose will link up with London Irish in July having been appointed as the English club’s new elite player performance manager.
