Leamy Has Scan On Neck Injury

Denis Leamy received the all-clear following a scan on the neck injury he sustained in the closing stages of Munster’s 18-11 Magners League semi-final victory over the Ospreys.

The Tipperary man should be in contention for a place in the Munster team for their only remaining fixture of the season – the Magners League grand final against Leinster at Thomond Park on Saturday, May 28.

Leamy came on as a 60th minute replacement for James Coughlan in Saturday’s win over the Ospreys, but was then forced off in the 74th minute with a neck injury.

He was taken to the Regional Hospital in Limerick where he was detained overnight pending today’s scan.

Speaking after the Ospreys game, Munster’s man-of-the-match Paul O’Connell said: “I thought we left a few tries out there. We were patient in the first half but after half-time, I thought we lost it and turned over the ball far too often.

“It’s great to have made it through to the final, especially after our last two semi-final performances (against Leinster and Harlequins).

“However, we are coming up against a Leinster side who have been outstanding all year. It’s going to be very tough, but we can guarantee our supporters that we will give it our best shot.”

Young centre Danny Barnes crossed for two tries against the Welsh region, with the province’s record points scorer Ronan O’Gara supplying the other eight points.
