‘Belvo Girls Chase Silverware In Paul Flood Cup Final

The Old Belvedere Women’s team are hoping to add to the club’s trophy cabinet this weekend when they face Galwegians at Stradbrook on Saturday in the final of the Paul Flood Cup.

The stakes are high for the Old Belvedere girls and the pressure is on to add to the men’s historic Ulster Bank League title.

In their first season in Division 1 of the Women’s All-Ireland League, ‘Belvo look set to finish third behind champions UL Bohemians and Cork side Highfield.

The Paul Flood Cup is their last shot at silverware and they face the team just behind them in the league – Galwegians.

The sides are level on points and separated by points difference. Saturday afternoon’s final will the fourth meeting between the two this season.

‘Wegians have proved stronger in the last two clashes, though ‘Belvo can look to their opening game of the season, in which they defeated the Galway side, for inspiration.

The Paul Flood Cup final kicks off at Stradbrook at 2pm on Saturday and with both teams well supported, it should attract a good crowd to the home of Blackrock College RFC.
