Munster Train Ahead Of Interpro Derby

Munster began their preparations for Saturday’s crucial Magners League match against Leinster with a full squad training session at the Cork Institute of Technology this morning.

All of the province’s frontline players were involved in the training session in Cork, including Paul Warwick who had been in Australia with family.

Hooker Damien Varley, who limped out of the game against the Cardiff Blues, is back to full fitness and took a full part in the training session as did full-back/winger Denis Hurley, who has shaken off a knee injury.

Munster report no new injury concerns except for young lock Dave Foley, who injured his shoulder when playing for UL Bohemians last Saturday and will be out of action for three to four weeks.

Centre Tom Gleeson was also present at Cork IT but took no part in training as he recovers from a hernia operation. He is expected to be in consideration for the Scarlets game in a fortnight’s time.

In other injury news, Ireland scrum half Tomas O’Leary (eye) will see a specialist later this week but is expected to be in the frame for the fixture with the Scarlets.

Hooker Jerry Flannery (calf) will undergo a surgical procedure in Santry this week after which medics will further assess his injury.

Meanwhile, Ian Dowling (hip) will see a specialist again early next month and fellow back Barry Murphy (foot) has two more weeks of rehabilitation to undergo before he can return to training.

Munster head coach Tony McGahan will finalise his extended squad for the Leinster clash tomorrow before naming the team and replacements on Friday.
