One of Europe’s leading stadium websites has voted the Aviva Stadium as its ‘Stadium of the Year’ award winner for new stadia constructed over the past 12 months.
Stadiony.net, which is based in Poland, is a website dedicated to stadia. It has over 150,000 dedicated users.
Given the predominantly Polish database, it might have been expected that some of the new Polish stadia being constructed for Euro 2012 would have taken top spot.
Instead, Ireland’s own Aviva Stadium came out on top. A total of 22 stadia from 13 countries were nominated for the award.
The Aviva Stadium was chosen as the winner followed by Poznan Municipal Stadium, Cracovia Stadium and Soccer City in Johannesburg.
