IRFU Extends Condolences To Earthquake Victims

The Irish Rugby Football Union has extended its condolences to the victims of the Christchurch earthquake which struck New Zealand in the early hours of today (Tuesday, February 22).

The earthquake which struck this morning follows closely from one which hit the same region six months ago.

IRFU President Caleb Powell said: “The thoughts of the Irish rugby family are with all of those affected by the terrible events of today.

“Ireland has always shared a wonderful relationship and history with New Zealand, particularly from a rugby perspective, and while all Irish supporters are looking forward to the Rugby World Cup, today’s events put that into perspective.

“Our best wishes go to the people of Christchurch and New Zealand at this difficult time.”
