Paddy Power Preview: Munster v Ospreys

If the sight of their team sitting pretty on top of the Magners League was not enough to get the generally shy and retiring Munster fans to feel a little more vocal, then the return of the totemic Paul O’Connell to action surely is.

Gavin Henson finally formalising his departure will make little difference to the Welsh region because they’ve had to soldier on without him for much of the last couple of seasons.

In fact, they’ve prospered without his services and the conveyer belt of talent has produced a new generation to compensate for his departure.

If extra motivation was required, the prospect of a final on relatively home turf will surely spur the Ospreys on in their quest to become the first Welsh side to claim European club rugby’s premier prize.

Injuries and suspension have hampered the reigning Magners League champions as they prepare for the trip to Thomond Park. Munster will expect to win on their own patch – they always do – and all the evidence would suggest the confidence is not misplaced.

The Ospreys would need to put in a colossal performance to cause an upset and although they’re exactly the type of side capable of putting in a colossal performance on the big occasion, Munster will feel they can boss affairs.

With every point being hugely important, Munster will be keen to deny the visitors even a losing bonus point and with that in mind, taking them -8 points @ 10/11 on the Alternative Handicap has a lot of appeal.
