Newland Joins Leinster On Short-Term Deal

Leinster have announced the signing of New Zealand Maori prop Clint Newland who has joined the province on a short-term deal until February.

Clint Newland has amassed a wealth of experience having featured for Hawke’s Bay 94 times in the NPC, since his debut in 1999.

The 30-year-old has also played 24 times for the Highlanders in the Super 14/15 competition since 2008.

He is immediately available for selection after arriving in Ireland on Tuesday. The Leinster team and replacement to face Edinburgh this weekend will be announced on Friday afternoon.

Commenting on the addition of Newland to the squad, Leinster forwards coach Jono Gibbes said: “We’re pleased to sign Clint and he will add experience to the group in place of the injured Stan Wright who, in recent seasons, has been the scrum leader in the Leinster pack.”
