Wallace Named In Munster Squad

David Wallace is set to be the next Ireland international to return to Magners League duty for Munster, having been included in their squad to face Glasgow Warriors at Firhill Stadium on Friday (kick-off 7.30pm).

David Wallace trained on Tuesday with the rest of the Munster squad at the University of Limerick, and although veteran prop John Hayes was in attendance, he took no part due to a back pain.

Wallace’s back row colleague, Denis Leamy, is listed in the squad after recovering from the rib injury which forced him to withdraw from the team for last Saturday’s league clash with the Ospreys.

With Ian Dowling, Denis Fogarty and Felix Jones having picked up injuries against the Ospreys, Munster coach Tony McGahan has added Denis Hurley, Mike Sherry and Lifeimi Mafi to this week’s squad.

Mafi made a try-scoring return from a shoulder operation when lining out for the Munster ‘A’ side in their 30-3 victory over Ulster Ravens in Nenagh last Friday. Hurley and Scott Deasy also featured in that game.

In the forwards, Mick O’Driscoll is pushing Donnacha Ryan and Donnacha O’Callaghan for a second row spot, with back rower Alan Quinlan in line to equal Anthony Foley’s Munster caps record of 201.

MUNSTER Squad (v Glasgow Warriors) Backs (11): Paul Warwick, Danny Barnes, Denis Hurley, Doug Howlett, Johne Murphy, Lifeimi Mafi, Sam Tuitupou, Scott Deasy, Ronan O’Gara, Peter Stringer, Tomas O’Leary.
