Munster Sevens Success For UL Bohs

UL Bohemians beat all comers as they were proudly proclaimed the Senior Cup champions at the fourth annual Munster Sevens tournament, which was held last Saturday at Garryowen FC

Cashel RFC brought home the Munster Sevens Junior Cup and not to be outdone by the boys, the Highfield girls returned home to their club with the winning silverware from the Women’s Senior competition.

Without question, the team of the day and the eventual Munster Sevens Senior Cup champions were UL Bohemians, who beat another excellent Limerick side, tournament hosts Garryowen, 21-14 in a well-contested final.

The Munster Sevens tournament involves every county in the province with 22 of Munster’s top clubs represented.

Commenting on the day, John Lacey, Munster Rugby’s Coach Development Officer, said: “The tournament has been a huge success and we are delighted with such a fantastic turnout.

“There has been great interest from all the clubs, and club coaches in particular, who are using the event to kick off the season.”

In addition to the action-packed match schedule, off pitch there was a host of family entertainment, including a bouncy castle and a sizzling BBQ all accompanied by a live DJ.

The event also supported the ‘Headsup’ text referral service from Rehab Care, which aims to help young adults in difficulty by offering support group information for a range of issues via text on 50424.
