Women’s World Cup To Break Broadcast Records

The 2010 Women’s Rugby World Cup kicks off on Friday, August 20 in London and organisers have announced that the tournament will enjoy record broadcast coverage.

The Women’s Rugby World Cup will be screened live by Sky Sports in Ireland and the UK, showing a record 13 matches as the action happens including the semi-finals and final at the Twickenham Stoop on Wednesday, September 1 and Sunday, September 5 respectively.

Alex Payne will host the coverage for Sky Sports, with analysis provided by Will Greenwood and former Ulster, Ireland and Lions winger Tyrone Howe.

Will Chignell, Johnnie Hammond and Martin Gillingham will provide commentary with Melissa Platt and Gail Davis reporting pitchside.

In addition to the host broadcaster, broadcasters from five continents including North America, Europe, Oceania, the Middle East and Africa have also committed to show live matches in their territory.

“The RFUW and England will be wonderful hosts for this exciting tournament and fans attending at Surrey Sports Park and Twickenham Stoop and watching on television around the world can look forward to a tournament that will demonstrate a high level of skill, competitive matches and a diverse spread of participating nations.

The tournament website, www.rwcwomens.com, will also be streaming all 13 matches live and on demand for free including three in each pool round, starting with Wales v Australia, New Zealand v South Africa and England v Ireland at Surrey Sports Park on matchday one.

For Ireland and the UK, matches will be exclusively streamed live on Skysports.com only.

USA v Ireland, Surrey, Tuesday, August 24, 4.30pm

Ireland v Kazakhstan, Surrey, Saturday, August 28, 4.30pm
